Brilliantly argued. Harish Khare has tried to bring down whole edifice of politics, culture, religion, history, democracy and political philosophy in India to clash of individuals G2 and 2G. In this he has joined the ranks of many other journalists to offer Indian public a choice between G2 and 2G and argue G2 has advantages over 2G. In brief, he supporting the current dispensation and asking people that they have no choice but to elect them again and again. He seems least bothered that India is receding on human development indices , human right index and democracy index. He doesn’t have empathy of journalists and students who generally belong to minority community are interned under notorious law on flimsy grounds. He seems oblivious of the vigilanteism and increased communal violence on the streets.
Institutional violence in India has always been the norm. The RSS/BJP combine have directed that towards specific minorities while the congress and others were more fractional. Whether the part is led by strong individuals is a matter of circumstance. Trump, Boris Johnon or Erdogan are example of something in the global political system that seems to prefer strongmen. Whatever the cause is, it's here to stay for a while.
In this context the Gandhis' are woefully inadequate as leaders of an alternate and better way. The example of Sidhu as you pointed out shows how bereft of ideas the Gandhis' are. That they would pick an unstable man is cause for concern.
India needs a secular political organization minus the socialist hangovers. Doubtful it will happen with the Gandhis' glued to the INC supreme chairs.
I definitely disagree with HK. However, failure of Congress to throw up new leadership is matter of concern. Rahul and Priyanka may be very nice people however they lack vision and leadership qualities to inspire. They lack any plan hence all their programs are knee jerk reactions to given situation. One needs street smartness and clear future vision to counter the saffron brigade. These two seem to lack both. Modi-Shah would always be happy to have Gandhi siblings in opposition.
You are right here, politics is not sports. People and many in media and even politics see politics as sport of some sort where a contest is being held between political parties. Politics is about enabling people to live more fruitful lives, with liberty , equality, justice and fraternity.
I follow your writings diligently and like them a lot. My question is this: does the BJP and its ideological supporters feel emboldened because they know the template they adopt will not be followed by the Congress and hence, in the future, other than electoral defeat, they fear no other punitive counter-action or counter-measures. Alternatively, should the Congress, at least, voice similar fascist ideological pretensions, that they will follow same template. I hope you get drift of my line of thinking.

Infiltration of RSS in our institutions, including opposition parties is complete.
A brilliant piece,as usual. I could almost see the connections in your brain forming and dissociating as if it’s in my own brain.
