Biden seems convinced it's best to let Pak implode itself. Biden has downgraded the US-Pak bilateral relationship, not spoken to Pak PM since his inauguration. The writing is evident on the wall that Pak will resort to drama to attract attention. Likely blame the west for letting the hungry and cold Afghan population suffer in the winters; OR an audacious militant strike in India to drag it in for a confrontation, causing the US to intervene to avoid a nuclear drama.

Essentially I agree to all that you are saying. Maybe there’s a little exaggeration and that might have crept in due to the extrapolation of data during the mental analysis that you’ve performed. May I be allowed to draw your attention to a small yet significant fact? Iran, a country dominated by Shias, started the use of local guerrillas to bring terror attacks into another country. Pakistan, a Sunni country is now mastering the process. What does that signify? I would love to hear the machined product of that wonderful mind that you have. Congratulations on the great writing

it was a rare but strategic gain for Pakisatn. of all parties, India lost the most. For it, no going back to Kabul as an influencer of policies and decisions. As for allegations of Jehad against Pak , they are imaginary, mere propaganda. Pak is a modern state, has a sophisticated military and enlightened civil society. In fact , what we are seeing is a growing 'democratic deficit ' since Modi Jee's party took over in India.

Very perspicacious, prescient and ominous. We should revisit this essay two or three years from now

"That is how Pakistan hopes to fund its campaign for Global jehad."

Global jehad?!

This is hindu rightwing hyperbolic nonsense. It is quite unbecoming of you.

You are also conveniently obfuscating the horrors Kashmiris have faced over decades.

The more one reads on Pakistan, China, Afghanistan, the more confused one becomes with different perspectives from so-called security pundits.

This brilliant essay puts the things in the correct perspective on Chinese incursions, Pakistan’s machinations in Kashmir, and our own policy blunders, disconnect between govt and RSS.

Pakistan’s experience with religiously motivated terrorism is a curse. Thanks to this essay for the dedication, openness, and sense of responsibility with which it has addressed this sensitive and tangled subject & put things in the correct perspective and our own policy blunders, disconnect between govt and RSS.

Each and every neighbour of ours have tested India in its own way and exposed the Govt inadequacy in meeting their challange.

Sri Lanka has been aligning with China openly and also delaying construction of port with Indian collaboration.

Iran wants us to buy their oil but the Chabbar port is now out if India's reach.

Bangla Desh steadily increasing it's economy to the point that will not need India support or help and will eventually try to align with the a superior regional ally and China will be too happy to fill the gap.

Myanmar actually does not care about India.

Nepal is in its own trip with blow hot blow cold policies vis a vis India and China is ever ready to support it against India.

Bhutan realising it's in their interest to have a border reconciliation with China without bothering to discuss with India.

With US openly reprimanding Modi during his visit making its visit a disaster has left Modi in a difficult situation. Jaishankar has not been a great EAM and he must go.

As you suggest Modi has to make a U-turn on the cultivated agenda against minorities, but it is going to be difficult for him. This is going to affect his supporters who will be lost without the divisive agenda and may cost him his votes and show that his political opponents have won the day.

Whatever be the case India is loosing under hia reign....
